Gnosis Pay: The Next Era
by
Adrienne Youngman

Two years ago Gnosis Pay was crypto’s first self-custodial visa card. Then it was the card infrastructure crypto wallets used to ship their own cards. Today it is an enterprise-grade platform and card program manager.
This new version is already live and has powered enterprise partners since earlier this year. Over the next few months we will complete the transition and begin to close the chapter on our early ‘consumer’ era.
For most cardholders this will be great news. There will be some migration steps required, but the rewards will include better reliability, better privacy, and instant withdrawals and reversals.
But future service decisions will be made by our partners (your account providers) and Gnosis Pay will start to wind down our own direct-to-consumer services, including the web app.
Here is a breakdown of what you need to know.
The Enterprise Rebuild
With the new Gnosis Pay platform, partners can design and launch card programs fully configured to their specific needs, drawing on us as needed for compliance, connectivity to on and off ramps, issue management tools and a full reporting suite, and working with Monavate for card issuance.
It has been live since earlier this year and those cardholders are benefitting from better card controls and enriched transactions, while the enterprise partner dashboard that we provide enables faster dispute resolution and better customer service.
Multi chain. Multi currency. High performance.
What Happens Next?
Next, we start the migration of our current partners onto the enterprise product.
We will also begin to sunset our consumer web app. We encourage web app users to migrate to a partner app now for the easiest future transition.
Partners who migrate will be able to offer clear benefits to their cardholders once complete.
Including:
Instant withdrawals. Moving money out of a card account today routes through a security delay. In future it will reach an account owner immediately.
Instant reversals. A cancelled payment is currently held through the Visa refund cycle, up to several days. Funds will come back as soon as the transaction clears.
Better coverage. You will experience far fewer declined payments when you use the card.
Improved privacy. Today settlement is per transaction - visible and timestamped. In future it will be collected once a day, with grouped payments that can’t be mapped or timed in the same way.
Better card controls. Spending rules will be set on the account and on each individual card.
Partners will compete for your business based on the strength of their product, their rewards, and their customer support.
Your relationship is with them and the cards and interfaces that they provide.
Spotlight on Rebind
Rebind is one of the first partners to confirm that they will migrate onto the new Gnosis Pay.
Moving from the web app to Rebind now will provide a smooth transition once they are live on the new platform. And Rebind’s product is one we’re proud to support. The product experience is great and they offer support for EUR, USD and CHF stablecoins, with integrated features to put your balances to work, plus zero FX charges — full details and terms are set by Rebind.
The team at Rebind are keen to welcome web app users and created a dedicate migration flow onto the current Rebind app. They’ve also extended a limited time offer of up to €100 for those who move over by Sept 9th - details here.
What this Means for Your Card
Over the coming months the Gnosis Pay card will be wound up in favour of partner cards. The last of our consumer interfaces - the web app - will also be drawn to a close.
From then on, Gnosis Pay will only live under-the-hood. You hold your account and card through a partner's app. Accounts do not move between partners but are also no longer one-per-person. You can have a Rebind account, a MiniPay account, a PicNic account… each with their own cards. You just sign up.
Coverage, rewards and incentives will be set by each partner and partners compete for your business with a clear incentive to keep raising the bar.
For cardholder’s who migrate with a partner, you will see better reliability, improved privacy, and instant withdrawals and reversals, as well as improvements in things like customer service.
We will continue to provide regular updates in the coming weeks.
This is the Gnosis Pay we have been building toward.
We hope you stay a part of it.
